题  目:Brown-York mass and compact manifolds with quasi-positive boundary data

内容简介:In this talk, we will discuss the geometry of a compact three manifold (Ω, g) with boundary and with nonnegative scalar curvature. A previous result by Shi and Tam says that if the each boundary component Σ of the boundary of Ω has positive mean curvature and positive Gaussian curvature, then the total mean curvature of Σ is no greater than the total mean curvature of Σ when it is isometrically embedded in the Euclidean three space. This is equivalent to say that the Brown-York mass of Σ in Ω is nonnegative. Moreover, if the Brown-York mass is zero, then Ω is isometric to a domain in the Euclidean three space.In this talk, we will discuss the situation that the mean curvature of Σ is nonnegative and the Gaussian curvature of Σ is nonnegative and is positive somewhere.This is a recent joint work with Yuguang Shi.
